Re: max demo'ed crosswind component for sonex A TD

Max demonstrated for my Waiex was a 20 knot direct crosswind (hard surface). Came in fast, wing down into the wind in a side slip, then three pointed it and full rudder to keep it straight. The tail wheel chattered as it tried to hold grip. Once I got slowed down, it was tame. I wouldn't like any mo...

Re: Exhaust routing

If you're half decent at tig welding, you can get some preformed bends from burnsstainless.com and fabricate your own. I did that for my bike (and if I had more time I'd like to make a 4-1 collector system for the Aerovee too. :-) Not even quarter decent, but I do have MIG welder and can tack weld ...

Re: Tracy O'Brien brake parts?

John, while we are on the subject, any idea what is going on with Tracy O’Brien? The website is a mess, are they still in business do you happen to know? Thanks, Gordon They checked out last year for about 3 months. Wouldn't take any orders, then came back. I ordered replacement seals and a set of ...

Re: Gland nut question

I didn't build an Aerovee, but why would you deviate from the factory recommended settings?

Exhaust routing

Thinking about how to vent the bad air out of the cowl on the new B model. Don't really want to penetrate the bottom of the cowl like the legacy A model or my Corvair inspired Speed Cowl (™). So looked at how the Jabiru Panther did it, he routed it down and out the bottom at the air exit like an RV8...

Re: Silkscreening panel labels

I found water slide paper on Amazon for $20. Gonna go that route first. I'll post the results.

Re: Silkscreening panel labels

On my RV-10, I did clear water slide transfer labels with black lettering that I typed up on my computer and had SteinAir print them out for me. You just cut the labels out, soak in in warm water, slide in place, blot up any access water, then let it dry. I then top coated my panel in clear. Fairly...

Re: Silkscreening panel labels

I had my stuff engraved onto a plastic material and then stuck on my panel with epoxy or double-sided tape. Was not expensive at all. http://www.engravers.net/materials.html http://www.mykitlog.com/users/display_log.php?user=mikesmith&project=698&category=5538&log=185087&row=19 My M...
