Re: When should I paint?

That's a cool paint scheme! Yeah, I've had a few years to think about it. I always liked the G-Bee and thought the Sonex was a bit boxy. Maybe this will make it look rounder! Lots of sitting with colored pencils on computer prints of Waiexes. And a couple of women at the house to give me the thumbs...

Re: When should I paint?

BTW, HVLP guns keep overspray to a minimum and are pretty efficient at paint transfer. You just need a good size compressor to keep up with it.

Re: When should I paint?

I'm in the process of painting. I waited until everything else was done. Wanted to get it painted before I move into the hangar and put the wings on. Once all the rivets and bolts are installed, I really can't say it would be too early to paint. Like you, I wanted to get it painted before it gets to...

Re: I bought a Sonex! Some transport damage...

I had some hangar rash that left a small dent in my waiex stabilator. I have no desire to reskin it. I'm glad to hear that simple body filler is an acceptable solution. I do plan on painting. If polishing, I would have reskinned it.

Re: Aerocarb/Aeroinjector discussions

I doubt the turbo would make the situation better, maybe worse. The turbo configuration I saw was the aeroinjector was before the turbo. Even if it was after, the leaning caused by the vapors would still exist. In a turbo, temps would be elevated, possibly creating more vapors. What is needed is pre...

Re: Home-made Tiedowns

My source for titanium stakes is Chinese. Hence the 1000 minimum order and relatively cheap unit price. However, I was at the local hardware store and they sold 6061 3/8 aluminum rod for $1.5 a foot. I would think 3 stakes (9 total) made from this would well exceed our needs per Kips design and weig...
