Re: Oshkosh Airventure 2011

Have a great time up there Kip. My family made it in first thing this morning and got a parking spot in the very last row of HBC...it sounds like it's a great turnout this year!

Re: Fist part - flaps

I'll answer as best as I can but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of my flaps. If it helps the flaps are the same on Sonexes so feel free to look at anyone's websites for help... On the ribs, go ahead and adjust the ribs so they're at a 90 degree angle and while you're at it, grab a sharpie a...

Oshkosh Airventure 2011

I believe Oshkosh starts tomorrow and unfortunately I wont be able to make it this year, so I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone is going, or if you're there if there's anything to report for this year.

If anyone is going have a great time and I hope to see you there next year!

Re: Primer

I don't think you're going to hurt anything. I used the gray NAPA self etching primer (number 72##...I can't remember the actual number) on my tail and main wing spars, and then used it on all flanges and mating surfaces in the wings and fuselage. I live in Ohio so it's probably overkill, but fir ju...

Re: Quiet around here...

Hopefully this site will continue to grow. I really like it! I haven't had much to say since my poor kit is sitting half the country away while I go through training, but I'm hoping to get back to it soon. My main goals will be electrical wiring and engine cowling, then it should be close to moving ...

Re: Exhaust Heat

My first homebuilt, when first test flown, did not have any exhaust wrapping and after the first few landings we noticed the cowling itself was pretty warm. To prevent any worries we wrapped the exhaust and it made a huge difference. On my Waiex I've already wrapped the exhaust. My thought is that i...

Does anyone live near Wichita?

Hello everyone, I will be spending a lot time in Wichita throughout the rest of July as well as the second half of August, so I thought I would see if anyone has a project or plane I could visit while I'm in town. I don't need a ride but I try to never pass up a chance to meet a new friend and maybe...

Re: Kit Piece Inventory

I know this sounds dumb but have you looked through all the boxes? Andy is right on...there should be an inventory list of several pages that you can use. Look through everything (including the plans) and if you can't find anything give Sonex a call.

Re: Stewart Systems Paint Products

Andy, If you have the time to read up on it, a lot of Vans RV guys have used this paint and have posted comments online at http://www.vansairforce.net . Like I mentioned, those who have followed the directions seem to really like the finished product but the application is different than other paint...
