The wings were part of EAA's "Give Flight" program, they were built at Oshkosh and given to our chapter. We just have to buy the rest of the kit, build it and fly it to Oshkosh 2017.

The kits going together pretty fast so, if we don't run into too many snags, we should have it done in time.

I can not see in the picture, but it looks like your aft wing attach plate is riveted in already. The Sonex plans have a note that says these will be riveted later. The note is not with the instructions, it is kind of center right of the page if I remember right.

Project is looking good.

Hi Mike,

Are you talking about the aft main spar attach angles? If so, they're not riveted in yet, It's just a bad photo and there're only 3 or 4 Cleco's holding them in.

I could use a pair. Pretty sure they will fit my Xenos. Where do I mail the check and how much do you think the freight will be? The ones I made would probably work but after looking at the pictures of yours, I would be embarrassed for someone to see mine!

Thanks.

Hi Bob,

If the Xenos latch plates are different it's no problem to modify the cutting file.

These are 7/8 x 4 7/8 x 3/16 thick. The slot is 5/32 wide, 15/64 from the edge and 1 13/16 from the "long" end. The pilot holes are 3/8" from the ends and 3/8" from the same edge as the slot.

If that's different let me know what the Xenos needs and we'll give it a try.

Also, do you want the pilot holes drilled? (have you drilled the longerons yet?)

This wasn't good news. Today we found two rear spar bolts that were bent several degrees because the spacers fit so bad.

It's an easy fix but not a real confidence booster :/

That is not good. I had to make those parts twice to get them right.

We got the motor mount and gear on, the tail feathers are mounted and the wings are "in progress". She's really coming together :)

Fritz,
Looks great. My old EAA Chapter also had a Nieuport and a C140:

A quick update on the Waiex: We got the wing spars nailed in, lot's of fiddling but it's done. We're going to go with a single stick so I changed the seat pan accordingly. It was a loud and messy job on the CNC machine but it was easier than tin snips and a file :)
