Thanks guys! Those strap duplicators are awesome. Where did you get your scotch brite belt for the belt sander?

I know I was hoping someone had bought one at a lower price than I had been finding. It's insane how much they cost.

The scotchbrite belts can be found on mcmastercarr.com. They call them non woven abrasive belts. The last time I bought some they were about $5 or $6 each for a 1x30 belt sander.

What am I missing with regards to the strap duplicators? Is there another thread or something I didn't see?

Keith

No you didn't miss anything - Tony lives near me and has been over often to help with my build. He saw the strap duplicators I bought, and so he knew I would say he needed them....

Thanks Keith, mcmaster seems like a pretty cool place to find a ton of stuff. Do you have any problems bogging down your belt sander with that belt on it?

The only problem I had with the belt bogging down the sander was when I first put it on. The belt is very stiff compared to a regualar sanding belt. The sander had trouble starting the first time I used a belt. I would just spin the belt around by hand a few times and after that it stretched a little and worked fine. Keep in mind that I was using it on a harbor freight $30 belt sander that had already been used so much that it was on its third on/off switch so if you used a better quality or newer sander you probably won't have that problem.
