AirVenture 2012

Announce and discuss upcoming fly-ins

I'm so jealous! One day I will finish and be there. With only my tail section finished it may be a few years. I've been invited many times because my work fly's there Beech 18 there every year. Problem if something goes mechanical you spend your time wrenching instead of enjoying the show. I would rather spend the cash on keeping my build moving along, instead of fuelling those thirsty radials. One day! keep the inspirational posts coming, I enjoy reading about my future!.

Hi guys,
I am sure most of us will be at the party Monday night but would many of you like to schedule another pub night get together either in the campground or outside?

My son and I will be at Sonex for the Monday night party.
We'll be driving in on Monday morning to Camp Scholler, and leaving Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone needing ground support just email me. We have room to take gear to and from OSH back to Denver.

Great news...it looks like the SubSonex will be making some flight demos throughout the week at Airventure next week. Also, I'm not sure if it's a mistake or leaked info but this article also states that the Sonex and Waiex kits are going to be modified with match hole parts now. Boy would this be cool...that could cut down build time by huge margins! I'll be interested to see if the factory announces this next week.

The matched hole is official. I'm delighted - life took me away from my wing kit for a period, which delayed the order of the fuselage sub kit originally planned for June....now when I order I can get matched holes.

Everything happens for a reason!

Hello All,

I hope by now everyone is safely home from Oshkosh Airventure 2012. I wanted to share a few pictures and highlights of our week up in sunny (and hot) OSH. I left central Ohio early morning on Saturday morning the 21st and had a perfect 4 hour flight off the wing of my fathers Express.

It was a lot of fun watching planes arrive Saturday evening and Sunday morning, and then the real fun began Sunday when my wife and I taxied the Waiex over to the Sonex factory for the homecoming gathering. It was cool looking at the second jet prototype under construction.

Monday was a scorcher weather wise, but everyone really loved the evening Sonex hangar party. I especially loved the chance to finally meet some of the people I've been talking to and emailing with over the past three years.

The rest of the week was spent surviving the heat and storms, but even more importantly getting to know the wonderful family that makes up the Sonex builders, pilots, and factory personnel. My wife Kristin, parents, and myself had a great week hanging out with Kip Laurie, Bill Larson, Dan Villiager, and all the other wonderful people we were lucky enough to meet.

By Friday morning we decided it was time to head home, so in the early dawn hours we departed into the smooth morning air. Just under 4 hours later I was pushing the plane back in my hangar with some incredible memories of a great trip.

A very heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this week a wonderful trip! :) Already I can't wait until Crossville this fall and Oshkosh 2013!!!

I'm happy that you were able to get Phase I in time, Mike. Next year, I'd like to see you in the Homebuilt Showcase!

It was a great time and I'm looking forward to Crossville which will be here before we know it...:)
