Thanks!

They are a bit rough...especially the F15-04s on the bottom right. I just made those tonight and I havent done anything to the edges yet.

Great news...that's what I noticed as well so I'm glad you said that. With the quality of the parts I see and the high standards you have I can't wait to watch your build! Keep it up!!

Sonex 1517 progress report

http://chicagoskydreams.com/Chicago_Skydreams/Sonex_1517_Build_Log/Entries/2011/8/28_IMG_3071_1.html

I completed the horizontal stabilizer front spar assembly today and began working on the horizontal main spar. The wing kit is scheduled to arrive this week, so build progress will be interrupted by wing kit chaos and box inventory.

Took some time out for the family today and we went on a nice bike ride on a beautiful day!

I just finished cleco-ing the skin to the horizontal stabilizer.....Lots of family stuff this time of year has slowed my progress a bit.

Nice! I just finished updrilling my RH stabilator skin, and am now pulling it back off for cleaning and SEP on the mating surfaces. Then it is on to the left side.

Remind me, what trouble did you have with your stab tips? I am not sure what the difference is with the Waiex tips, but they just seem to fit right in.

Kevin

The stab tips are a tight fit - it was the rudder that gave me real fits. Using what I learned there on the horizontal. We're just having challenges fitting it between the skin and the tip rib for drilling....I learned doing the rudder tip to make sure it fits well and when drilling make the pilot hole in the tip just a starter - then pull the tip and drill it through. I ruined a tip rib on the rudder by doing it all the way through, and the tight fit had moved the tip rib enough I ended up with double holes....bummer.

I am extremely lucky in that my wife helps me....some links to yesterdays work:

It's my own design, a quad gear, otherwise called a "butt dragger".
