Revmaster R-2300

Postby Sonex1517 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 8:58 pm

So I have spent part of my Christmas vacation surfing engine sites (as well as re-making the rib gussets)

Personally I would love a Jabiru 3300, but the finances say VW....

So it seems to come down to the Aero-Vee or the Revmaster. To my amazement, the R-2300 is still listed today as being $7685....even without the support from Sonex, it's worth serious consideration since the Aero-Vee is $6995 plus options.

I am a long way from ordering so I know the Revmaster will go up before I get one. Keeping an eye out for other options also, but right now it is these two....

Edited to add:
I re-read the post under Aerovee's again and noticed the rice of the Revmaster has gone up since Oshkosh....still leaning towarda an Aero-Vee I think....but have mild concerns about assembling it....

But, will the Revmaster bolt to the Aerovee engine mount or will you need to make a new mount?

It's hard to tell but there is a separate post here under AeroVee that has a long discussion about it....makes me think the answer is yes. I plan on seeing them in person if they are at Oshkosh next year so I can ask a lot of questions and take photos.

Anyone here have a definite answer to this one?

This was the answer I got back then. I would think it would be the same now.Robbie why not the Great Plains or the Hummel which by the way is the same price as the Aerovee but comes fully assembled and tested ? Just curious why you have it narrowed down to Aerovee and Revmaster.

I have already purchased my and my brother-in-laws Air venture tickets on line and like you will be making the rounds to specifically see the Revmaster,Great Plains and the Hummel if all three are there. In fact it's my main reason for going .The aerovee I've already seen up close so I'll visit them just to say Hi.the hummel is the dark horse for me .Don't know a lot about it because there is not a lot of info out there.I've been told it has a Force one prop but I don't know for sure.
Another thing that I think about it hand propping .I plan at least one very long cross country and it would be nice to be able to swing the prop if i'm out in the sticks and need too and that is not possible with the Aerovee.
Cheers

Yes the RevMaster 2300 will bolt up to the factory Onex motormount. You will need a Sonex instilation kit sold by RevMaster. I have pics if I can figure out how to post them on here.

Hi Joe,
I would love to see your pictures.

In order to place an image in a post on this forum do the following:
- go to the full editor by clicking "post reply", not the "quick reply".
- click on "Upload attachment" below your text editor when writing a post.
- click choose file and browse for you picture.
- click "Add the file", your picture should now be attached to the post, you should see the file name in the list of attachments below the editor.
- now to place the picture inline in your post just click "place inline" below the filename, that will place the picture inline where your cursor is,

Cheers,
Michael

I am pretty sure this u-tube will explain a lot about it .He claims no prop strike yet the kr2 was highly damaged so draw your own conclusions as to the truth in that statement. If you check further on the internet you will find it was up for sale as far back as Feb.12 and keep in mind it has sat since 89 I believe.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcE0fbqWYOo
Still for that price it might be worth the risk, though it might be hard to find the details on the crash even though he only says "he broke the firewall" :?
Note that it was sold in april when this video was made. Why is new owner getting rid of it after less than a year?
